Passengers: Doug, Paul, Wayne Cornu, Shelly Olson

Today is a “Birthday” trip for Wayne, his 80th who has his family along for the ride. We have moved to the north as the winds have settled into a more summer like pattern. We get the Starship out and prepared to fly. We are up and I call for the passengers to get on board. We are off the field and head out to the south at an easy pace toward the river. I drop down a bit lower and we get a great reflection shot as we move on into West Salem and the agriculture area. We play on the river again as we cross over a second time into north Salem. We travel down Shoreline Drive and the passengers are impressed by some of the “cottages” on the river bank. We pass the park and then Wayne would like to get a bit higher to see the valley better. While we are high we once again drift back to the west into West Salem. I have the gang move to Wallace Road as the LZ will be there. It is time to land and I have the gang at the Park but as I drop lower I find the surface breeze has died off so the LZ will be a field at Somerset Heights. The gang gets on the field as I work us into the spot. I drop some altitude and set up for the drop line as it looks like I may drift to the wrong side of the fence. The catch is made and we start to get the balloon cooled and deflated. The passengers do the “sit” and we load up for the drive back to the picnic.
I get the story started, the toast is done and the certificates are presented.

Wayne: “I’m 80 years old and this is the chance of a lifetime for me. It met all my expectations.”
Doug: “Fantastic, I want to do it again. Thanks a lot!”
Paul: “Awesome! The view was beautiful and it was a great ride!”
Shelly: “It was a beautiful morning and a serene ride.”

A BIG thank you to today’s Crew (I can’t get in the air or back on the ground without’um)
