Passengers: Leigha Farabee, Nate Hisamura

We are heading to West Salem today as the light winds are forecast to be WSW at 3 and I’ll be danged…they are. The weather has turned again and is beautiful as the gang get to work on the balloon. I call for the passengers and they board and since I had a last minute cancellation last night I will get Cecil in the basket for some “burner” time. We are off and drift to the NE at a easy pace over Wallace and into the farm area toward the river. We cross the tree line then on into Keizer just past North Park. We drift on into “downtown” on River Road and Cecil points out the new “streetscape” in front of Town & Country Bowl. Now just how COOL is that for a sidewalk, a giant bowling pin. Somebody put on their “thinking cap” for that job. We continue into the residential area for a few minutes then I ask Cecil if he can find us a place to park? How about the school complex of Weddle & Clagget Creek this morning, looks possible to me. The gang move in for the setup and we start the approach. The wind has died off so it is going to take a few minutes to get to the play field behind the school. The gang is there as Cecil sets up the shot and brings is in like a feather to a no bump landing in the middle of the field. We get the balloon deflated and in the bag for the trip back to the picnic.
I get the story started, the toast is done and the certificates are presented.

Leigha: “What a wonderful day! The crew was so friendly. Cecil did his first landing with us and it was perfect!”
Nate: “First time and it was GREAT! The story and picnic afterwards was a very nice touch.”

A BIG thank you to today’s Crew (I can’t get in the air or back on the ground without’um)
