Passengers: Kathleen Fitzgerald, Mary Fitzgerald, Sara Uselman, Glen Adams

The forecast for the winds this AM is N-3 and I’m skeptical so I call for our north site in Brooks. As it turns out I was right to doubt the light winds promised. We have 2 guests from out of town, WAY OUT! Kathleen is from Boston and Mary is from Atlanta, welcome to Oregon. We have the gang on the job getting the balloon stretched and pumped up for the passengers to climb on in. We are off the runway as the sun starts to burn in over the trees. Down low it is pretty slow as we head out to the southwest over the hops. It is over the Knife River operation for a few minutes then on into the farm country. We get into Keizer and cross over at Mc Nary Golf course and past the driving range then I miss LZ #1 as we slip several blocks to the east of Rapids Park and over the river into West Salem. I have the gang move to the west side as I look for a place to park. At tree top we are still doing about 6 MPH so I warn the passengers that I will need to do some tree “slipping” and to be prepared. I call for the field next to Clarks Farm and the gang is there to catch us as we slid into the tall grass. We get the balloon in the bag and leave the “bugs” to there home. It is back to the airport and a hawk is on guard as we drive in.
I get the story started, the toast is done and the certificates are presented.

Kathleen: “This was a wonderful experience, a great way to see Oregon!”
Mary: “Wonderfulexperience3! Thanks for the great trip.”
Sara: “I had so much fun. The landing was great!”
Glen: “I had a great time, well worth getting up early for!”

A BIG thank you to today’s Crew (I can’t get in the air or back on the ground without’um)
