Passengers: Susie Hartsell, Cindy & Dan Koffler, added Tim Gregory (crewman)

Today is another “Birthday” day with two of them to celebrate. Susie Q. (as she is known by her posse) has her day today and Dan had his a week ago. I have added one of our lead “gang” members Tim to fill out the load as a crew “payout”. We meet at Keizer Rapids and after a look at the winds there I move us farther north to Brooks as I will need more travel room. We get the balloon out and start the inflation process getting the cold air in. The balloon is up and I call for the passengers to climb on in. I lift off the field as the gang pack up for the upcoming chase. The drift is as I expected to the south at an easy pace. We cross into the farm country and past Antique Powerland which is having a truck show this weekend. I cross over Brooklake and toward the Iris country. The sun has come up and the sky is starting to clear as we head toward theVolcanoes Stadium. It is ironic as we had the owner of the team, Jerry Walker the other day and Mother Nature did not cooperate at all in getting us close to the ball field. I drop down low to check the winds then have to gain some altitude to clear the lines coming out of the BPA substation next to Keizer. I have called the gang to move to Chemawa School as that will be the LZ this morning. We cross over the tree line as I set up for the shot with the “boots” on the ground waiting for us. We are on the grass as the gang gets us set up for the deflate. We get Starship tied up and read for the bag. We get loaded up and head back to the school for the picnic.
I get the story started, the toast is done and the certificates are presented.

Susie: “Thanks Jim you and your crew have started my birthday out right, I truly enjoyed the flight.”
Cindy: “Thanks for a very pleasant ride, I really enjoyed it!”
Dan : “It was absolutely a great experience, one I will remember!”
Tim: “Wow! What an awesome flight!”

A BIG thank you to today’s Crew (I can’t get in the air or back on the ground without’um)
