Passengers: Renee & Neal Reiser, Cinda & Jim Gangle

Again we are out in Brooks in Jeff & Ruth’s back yard to play. The forecast looks comparable to the last few days and I think we will be in Keizer again today. The gang gets to work on Starship as the passengers look on. We get the balloon pumped up and I call for the passengers to board. We still have a full moon and the sunrise is bright red as it comes into view. I get the heat to the balloon and are off the field about 6:30 drifting to the west, not south as I expected. This drift will take us over some hops then across Wheatland Road and above a private lake. I take a shot at a “practice water landing” as there is no wind on the surface. We drop on the water and get a couple of inches of the basket wet. We drift off the lake still with the east push. I decide to go high and see if I can find some push to the south. All the drift is to the west no mater what altitude I pick so we may cross the river into Polk County. I get a call from the gang about moving to the ferry so they can cross the river. I say okay but as we approach the river I have slowed a bunch and call tem back as I have a shot next to Windsor Island Rock. There is a new pit that has been opened and next to it a picked cauliflower field that will work well for our LZ today. I set the shot as the gang check in at the office to secure our permission. The radio cracks ”we have permission” so I will park here and wait for them to get to us. Our “escort” brings the gang and we get the balloon ready for the bag. We are bagged and get loaded up for the trip back for the picnic.
I get the story started, the toast is done and the certificates are presented.

Cinda & Jim: “Wow! Thanks for the great start to another Birthday year! Nice lift off, fun time, even when we gently ‘kissed the water’!”
Renee & Neal: “Great Birthday and Anniversary Trip!”

A BIG thank you to today’s Crew (I can’t get in the air or back on the ground without’um)
