Passengers: Fr. Tim Mockaitis, Terry & Nancy, Isabella, Max Molyneux

We have the “Queen of Peace” group this morning. I got a call from the Principal of the school several weeks ago to put this flight together. Debilyn Janota (Principal) is a long time friend and I have been looking forward to this flight for weeks. We have the Church pastor, Fr. Tim and the Molyneux family who made the High Bid at the annual fund raiser auction. I have moved us out to our Brooks site as the winds yesterday were stronger than forecast and I would prefer landing in Keizer and not Four Corners. The pi-ball (small helium test balloon) shows that the track will be to south and probably into Keizer. The gang gets to work on the balloon and soon we are up and ready to “board” the passengers. We have a beautiful morning to play and we drift off the field as the gang pack up for the chase. It is over the farm country and the children are really getting into what is happening. We cross over wheatalsorow crops and nurseries as the drift carries us toward Keizer. We get into a really nice residential area and one of the houses is a favorite as we have landed there before. I drop low to show how we slip into the landing mode but will skip the landing as we have only been in the air about 30 minutes. We continue into Keizer and the gang has staged several times but the surface breeze has pushed me off. I have a good shot for the parking lot at Safeway and the gang is there waiting. Once over the power lines I drop in and the catch is made. We drop the balloon and get the pack up started with the help of Max as a “sandbag”. The bag sit is done and the gear is broken down for loading. We pull out of the parking lot just as the flag at the fire station tells me it is time to party.
I get the story started, the toast is done and the certificates are presented.

Nancy: “Thank you for an amazing balloon flight...Floating over the valley, touching the tree tops, waving to people looking skyward...what a memory to capture in photos and share with others!”
Isabella: “Thank you for taking me on the balloon ride.”
Max: “Thank you for letting me flying the glider.”
Terry: “An uplifting experience well worth remembering. Thank you so much for making it comfortable for and inclusive for our children. Many successful years to all of you!”
Fr. Tim: “Amazing views and gentle breeze made the entire experience one to remember. Many thanks for the memory.”

A BIG thank you to today’s Crew (I can’t get in the air or back on the ground without’um)
