Passengers: Jim & Nancy White, Don & Joan White

The winds have shifted back to a more normal pattern so I move us out to the Brooks area for today. We have Jim & Nancy celebrating a “fantastic” milestone in the road of life, their 53rd Wedding Anniversary! The gang gets to work and soon we are up and ready to board the passengers. We lift off and drift to the south over the Weathers “cash crop” then over the Knife River operation for a bit and off to the beautiful “quilt” provided by our friendly farmers. I see that many of the fields have been harvested, that converts to LZ’s (landing zones) for me on future flights. We have a bit of clouds coming in from the coast and will miss seeing the mountains today. We continue toward Keizer and I call for the first LZ, Clear Lake School. As I drop for the shot we get some down slope push off the west hills and drift right on by. The LZ down wind is Country Glen Park. I set up for the shot as the “gang” gets ready for the catch. Again I get the push to the east and miss #2. The van is again on the road as I’m looking at some open space next to Keizer Station. This will work and as I set the shot I get a shove on the surface out of nowhere! The guys get me stopped with the help of a little tree and we are down safely, bumpy true! We get it in the bag and the gang gets us loaded as we all head back to Brooks for the picnic.
I get the story started, the toast is done and the certificates are presented.

PASSENGER COMMENTS:
Jim & Nancy: “Our trip met my expectations. It was a very nice anniversary gift, well worth doing. Thanks!
Don & Joan: “Wonderful experience! Not scary at all. Thanks so much.”

A BIG thank you to today’s Crew (I can’t get in the air or back on the ground without’um)
Cecil, Jan, Sean
