Passengers: Damon & Dawn Sevart

Today we have another “Birthday Boy” and Dawn has pulled off the total surprise for Damon. I have a lot of thoughts about getting this flight off the ground as the weather is on the edge this morning. The winds have been variable and moved around to the south which almost always means unstable. After getting all the weather data that is available I give the go ahead and the gang gets the balloon out and prepared for the flight. I have the passengers get on board and we are off to the north. We spend a little time in the farm area of West Salem passing over the crops, mostly “cow corn” as we head toward the river. We are moving right along and zip right over the Willamette and into Keizer. We have been in the air for about 20 minutes and have covered more ground than we normally would in an hour. I will have to get us parked soon and have picked the tree line on Clear Lake as the wind break I need for a safe landing. I set us up for the shot and brush through the trees to break off some speed and drop into a grass field on Doug Zelinski’s farm. We have been moving so fast that we are way ahead of the gang and they finally get on the field after we are down and deflated. We get the balloon in the bag and head back to West Salem for the picnic.
I get the story started, the toast is done and the certificates are presented.

PASSENGER COMMENTS:
Damon: “Great B-Day gift from my beautiful wife, thanks Honey! The ride was fast, I love the speed! I would do it again.”
Dawn: “Thanks to Jim, Jan, Tim and Cecil, we had a neat experience! Everyone should have this experience, thanks!

A BIG thank you to today’s Crew (I can’t get in the air or back on the ground without’um)
Jan, Cecil, Tim
