Passengers: Keith & Michelle Cook

Today is the 6th try to get a 11th Anniversary flight off the ground. I call for our Keizer site down by the river and the fog is on the river but it’s clear as a bell with plenty of visibility in the parking lot about a mile off the river. The gang gets the balloon out and hooked up, the fan adds the air and it is time to board the passengers. A bit more heat is added and we are off the lot and will start to “zig & zag” (look at the TRACK) across the area of Keizer. This is the only area in the Salem area that is free of the fog and what little remains are evaporating fast. The sun pokes out and will help getting rid of the rest of the “junk” as we proceed toward the lake and a chance to get out feet wet. The pockets are thinning and since we are so late in launching we get a lot of “lookie-loos” along the way. I have picked a school for the LZ and as we set up for the shot I get a slight push to the east and will use a little park inside of Inland Shores instead. We use the street for the lay down and are greeted by a KOIN-6 reporter whose house we just flew over for the approach. I chat with Gary a bit and he talks to the passengers as we get the balloon ready to pack and into the bag. We timed the flight just right as the deck starts to creep down on us as we load up and head back to the Park for the picnic. This neighborhood is definitely balloon (& Beaver) friendly and we may one day return.
I get the story started, the toast is done and the certificates are presented.

Keith & Michelle: “Great flight and the 6th time was the charm! Beautiful Blue sky above with a patchy “ocean” of clouds below. Beautiful sunrise and a nice landing, great time!

A BIG thank you to today’s Crew (I can’t get in the air or back on the ground without’um)
