Not much flying in January so we fill the time with some “outreach” activities. Today we are at the Oregon Wine, Food & Brew Festival an annual event held in Salem at the Oregon State Fairgrounds. This show has a “soft spot” in my heart as I was the Director of this show for several years in the 90’s. We get onto the floor and with some help from Cecil get the booth setup complete with the basket from “Daydreamer” and our 10 foot CAB (cold air balloon) to top off the “balloon illusion”. Jan Cline our lead “chaser” has the spot next to us (Discovery Toys) so we can cover each other for breaks. Jan’s sister is across the aisle with some really GOOD food goodies home made on her farm in Beaver. Across the floor is another old friend, Lee Radke an excellent wood worker turned beer maker. Lee did some fine work for me some years back replacing the wood skids on the basket for “Starship”. These events are fun and gives us a chance to make some new friends. There is live music and wine tasting with a chance for folks to taste new wine, brews and foods.
We had a fun two days, our feet are out of shape and two days on the concrete told us that fact. We also have a little fun with folks and some want to try the basket on for size. We are more than happy to accommodate them as it gives them an idea of what we do.
Keep the date in mind…maybe we will see you there next year?
