Passengers: Joe, Shirley, Alvin & Richard Nibler

Today it is the “Nibler” gang, three bothers and a sister are going to scratch another item off the list and come fly with us. I call for our Brooks launch site as the wind forecast is calm to 3-5 MPH for the first couple of hours after sunrise. We get the balloon gear unloaded and stretched out for the pump up. We are up and standing so I call for the passengers to get on board. We are off to the south and head off to the Knife River operation after a short time over the hop fields that have just been strung so the vines can start climbing soon. We get a nice reflection shot off the water as there is no breeze on the surface at all. This is mostly all crop country with hops, hazelnuts and even a horse operation here and there. After a few more minutes we are getting into the edge of the Keizer area and will spent the balance of the flight in the urban area. I look at Clear Lake School as a possible LZ (landing zone) but we slip past it a bit to the west. We are moving into Mc Nary golf course and say “good morning” to several early “duffers”. Just past the golf course is an old gravel pit owned by Bill Statts that had petered out in the 60’s. It has become Inland Shores with condos, apartments and homes all around the 75 acre lake that was left. I just love to play around the water that is why I ware rubber boots. The gang moves into the “view point” as I take a shot at a splash and dash. I miss making contact with the water as we drift past the restaurant and say “bye” to some “lookie loos” as we head out toward the next LZ, Roth’s big parking lot. The gang move into the lot as I drop to set the shot and get a sharp turn to the west at lower altitude. The shift in winds sends us to the back lot and after I clear the roof I get a line to the gang and they pull us down to the lot. We start on the deflate and ten the pack up and get it into the bag. We get the gear loaded up and head back to the airport for the picnic.
I get the story started, the toast is done and the certificates are presented.

Joe: “What a fantastic day, beautiful and a great crew!”
Shirley: “I ready to go again!”
Alvin: “Beautiful day, very informative and enjoyable & lots of fun too!”
Richard: “Great Ride!”

A BIG thank you to today’s Crew (I can’t get in the air or back on the ground without’um)
Todd, Jan, Tim, Cecil
