Passengers: Sandi Cole & Clay McCarthy and Renee & Bryon Akins

Today is a “double dose” of weather reschedules with all four passengers have been bumped several time due to Mother Nature. I call for our Keizer site by the river as the winds are light and out of the north. This is the first flight out of the “Rapids Park for this season and Terry’s gang are behind in the mowing because of the WET spring so we will play in the tall grass today. We get the balloon out and hooked up and Bryon offers to help as we are on a “short” crew week with 3 regulars out till next week. We get the balloon filled and then with some heat we are ready to have the passengers “come on board”. We lift off and drift off to the south as planned toward the river. I drop down for a “closer” look at the river but with the level still a bit high and us being headed “cross grain” we will keep our feet dry today. We drift into the West Salem “farm area” at an easy pace. I see that the dairy has gotten the cow food field prepared for planting the corn that will become feed for the cows this fall. We are over crops and a few private gravel operations in this area as we head for the berry fields that are greening up with the help of some irrigation. With all the rain this spring you would think watering was NOT needed, nope! I call for the “gang” to stage for us at Wallace Marine Park as that looks good for the LZ (landing zone) this morning. As I drop to set up the glide in the lower winds are gone so I will be short of the park and will use a “balloon friendly” field on the east end of a mobile home park today. The gang will have to move to us as I land on the “wrong” side of the fence and we wait for the “key lady” to let them in to get to us. The gang gets to us and we drop the balloon for the deflate. We took off in the tall grass and we will pack up in just about the same, you just have to love spring in the valley. We get that balloon back in the bag and the sit is done to get all the extra air out. It’s back to Keizer for the picnic.
I get the story started, the toast is done and the certificates are presented.

Sandi & Clay: “Had a great time! Thank you for a wonderful experience!”
Renee & Bryon: “Thank you for a great day, this was a breathtaking trip. What a great birthday present, thank you for a fun morning.”

A BIG thank you to today’s Crew (I can’t get in the air or back on the ground without’um)
Todd, Mike, Al T. & ‘Bryon’
