Passengers: Troy & Becky Archer, Pete & Lisa Warren

Mother Nature is finally giving up some really good flying weather, be it spotty at best. I call for the Weathers property as we again have a forecast out of the north at about 5 MPH. We a “double header” today with a 26th Anniversary for Troy & Becky and the BIG birthday for Lisa. The surface winds are perfect as the “gang” gets the balloon out and pumped up. I made a call to my flying buddy Jason who pilots a “powered parachute” to come join us as he loves to have a real “airport” to fly from. We get Starship pumped up as Jason rigs up his machine. He has a new one this season, it will carry 2 so he can share the fun. We are ready for the passengers to board and after the “briefing” we are off the apron and Jason is ready to get airborne too. It is up over the hops which are climbing right up the strings as we head out on our adventure for today. Jason is off too as he swings around us and gets some great photos for us, a real treat as we have very few “air to air” shots in our library. We are over the hops for a bit then over the water at the Knife River operation. Jason stays with us for a bit as we head out toward the north edge of Keizer, then I get a hook to the west back over the farm country. The “gang” is with us as we zig & zag into the urban area of Keizer. We cross over the last of the farm fields and Jason appears below us as we head over the Lutheran Home toward the golf course. I’m searching around for a LZ (landing zone) and have spotted the Keizer Elementary School as a possible shot. I have the “gang” move there as the track has settled in and it looks like a good possibility that we may make the soccer field behind the school. I set up for the shot and the “gang” is on the spot to catch the line as I will need some help to hit the smaller parking lot, as I miss the field by about 175 feet. After a “GREAT POST & BEAM” right into the lot we get the deflate started, the balloon tied off and again back in the bag, with a good sit and all. We get loaded up and return to the airport for the picnic.
I get the story started, the toast is done and the certificates are presented.

Pete: “WOW! What a great day to fly, clear, crisp morning, lots of sun and interesting views.”
Lisa: “My birthday is starting out GREAT!”
Becky: “Great flight and a great morning! Nice crew & snacks, enjoyed it all very much!
Troy: “Me too!”

A BIG thank you to today’s Crew (I can’t get in the air or back on the ground without’um)
