Passengers: Louise Snyder with Granddaughter’s, Sophie, & Veronica Weisensee

Is Mother Nature ever going to give us a BREAK? Again we are at our southwest launch site as the conditions are still in a spring like mode. We are supposed to be in “T” shirts at launch not still in sweats. We have a second Grandmother Birthday with her grandchildren as her passengers. We had another one 7-3 with the most kids I have ever had in the basket. The winds are light and the gang gets the balloon out and pumped up. We are standing and I get the “girls” all situated in the basket. We are off the parking lot at an easy pace but Louise has the “traditional” first flight “death grip”. She will loosen up in a bit, most all do. We cross over Wallace, then past Somerset Heights and into the agriculture area that makes up most of the land here before we get to the river in a mile or so. We drift over berry fields for a bit with some of the folks working the field today. We work our way toward the Willamette River and will travel down stream for a bit between the tree lines. Louise has a “special request” to have a birthday “party” in the air and she has brought along the special “once a year” cake for the party. While the girls party we continue our tip down river until we start the drift toward the east bank and have to climb out over the trees into Keizer. The “gang” is right below as we come across Shoreline and head toward my selected LZ (landing zone) for today. Our friends at Loren’s Sanitation have several large open lots around there operation. We have used them on occasion and the “gang” set up for the shot into one today. We are on the ground with a nice catch by the “gang” and start to get the gear packed away. We get the balloon clipped and in the bag with the girls doing the “sit” for us. One of Loren’s crew stops by to say hello and we get the basket set up for the toast and presentation.
I get the story started, the toast is done and the certificates are presented.

Louise: “The best birthday anyone could wish for; a balloon ride with my favorite people, my grandchildren. Thank you!”

A BIG thank you to today’s Crew (I can’t get in the air or back on the ground without’um)
