Passengers: Sally Patton, Vern Schrage & Pauli Bailey

The upper winds have slowed down for this morning so I come into Keizer for the launch site today. We get the balloon filled then I call for the passengers to board and we are off the park heading, slowly to the south with a bit of a west push. The track will be across Keizer and with any luck a peek at the river. The drift does move us close to the river and on the way we spot an Osprey nest in an old busted fir tree. I do get us to the river for a little “play” time and a we drift by we have some “lookie loos” on their deck taking a photo of us taking a photo of them. The breeze shifts and we slip over the tree line to the east and back onto Shoreline Drive. I have a perfect LZ (landing zone) up ahead and have the “gang” move to it as beyond it is “no-land/land for several minutes. I set the shot up and Mother Nature is a sweetheart today and pushes right between the trees and onto the “well used” soccer field. It is to damp here so we move to the empty parking lot for the lay down. We get the balloon ready for the bag then load up for the short drive back for the picnic.
I get the story started, the toast is done and the certificates are presented.
