Passengers: Dwight & Dennis Reck, Kristi Phillips, Darcy Schlottwann

Today we are at our west side location as the winds forecast has us dealing with a SSW breeze at about 4 MPH. The sunrise this morning is beautiful and I think that is a hint of the rest of the morning. The “gang” gets the balloon out and pumped up, ready for the passengers to climb on board. I add the heat to Starship and we are off the lot and on our way. The drift is as called and we cross over Wallace past Somerset Heights and their LZ we used last month then is on toward the river to play for a bit. We sneak up on the tree line, cross over and I drop us down between the tree lines for a bit of a drift downstream. We still have the push from the west so we are shoved off the river after a few minutes and pop back into Keizer for the rest of the flight. It is past the new Chevy store that looks closer to opening soon. Then over the Kroc Center and a shot at the water on the old gravel pit next door. I get pushed east so I miss a “splash by Desch” so all we get is a reflection shot. It is time to find a landing spot and I have two side by side off Lancaster Drive, a large field owned by Larry Epping and the Peoples Church parking lot to the south. Both spots are “balloon friendly” so I have the “gang” move there. As I set up for the shot I get a shove to the church lot so that will be the LZ today. One I clear the apartments next to the lot we are there with the gang waiting. We get the balloon deflated and ready for the bag sit and we load up and on our way back to West Salem for the picnic.
I get the story started, the toast is done and the certificates are presented.
