Passengers: Sherri Henry, Donna Young, Kayleigh Paslay, Sam Stockdale

Mother Nature is still in her “PMS” mode (sorry ladies) but strictly a professional Pilot observation no “male” thing intended. I call for the West Salem site as the weather is shifting to a southwest on shore flow for a couple of days. The Pi-ball tells me that we have very little wind and what we do have is to the east so we should head across town. We have light crew today but the “A” team so we “huff & puff” the balloon into shape. It is time for passengers to board and after the “briefing” we are off the grass with a slow drift to the east. We get a good look at the fun thinks set up in the parking lot of the church for there annual summer festival as we cross over Wallace road. We drift toward the river as we cross into the core downtown area. As we cross over the Riverfront Park I spot the set-up starting of the car show that is scheduled for the lawn at the park and the fishing guys are starting to move out too. We get a look at the Gilbert House complex and the worlds biggest “erector set”. I spot a penthouse addition on the top of a downtown building that I didn’t even know was there, they look small but kinda neat. I love this job as you get to see stuff that nobody ever even knows is there. We get a hook to the east and head out toward the Capitol Mall area and will get a up close look at the “Goldman” today. We drift off the Mall area and across 12th street into northeast Salem as I look around for a LZ (landing zone) for this morning. We pass over Safeway but the lot has too many cars scattered around so I keep the track to the east and will look at something around the “kookoos” nest (State Hospital) as the spot today. I spot the open field that is next to the Salem Hospital Rehab Center so I call for the gang to move into the complex and that will be the LZ this morning. I get a slight push to the south as I set the shot so it will be a parking lot drop line today. The “gang” (all 2 of’um) get us on the lot safe and sound and we get deflated and packed up for the trip back to West Salem for the picnic at the park.
I get the story started, the toast is done and the certificates are presented.

PASSENGER COMMENTS:
Sherri: “Fantastic!”
Donna: “Best birthday present EVER! I loved the stories, food & the toast.”
Kayleigh: “I really enjoyed flying with you guys!
Sam: “Beautiful scenery, an amazing experience! This is something I’ll remember for the rest of my life.”

A BIG thank you to today’s Crew (I can’t get in the air or back on the ground without’um)
Tim, Mike
