Passengers: Eugene & Kathie Jones, Rob & Peg Mehl

Today summer has finally showed us it’s really here! With just a bit of fog here and there in the tree tops, which is gone as soon as the sun hits it. Again out at the Brooks site today as the wind forecast is NNE for this morning. We get the balloon pumped full then standing and it’s time for some passengers to join me. We are off the field and head down the hops toward the gravel pit. Down low I have too much push to the west and once past the lake I go higher looking for more push to the east to straighten us out more to the south. We cross over Clear Lake and into the edge of Keizer and I again drop lower for a direction and speed adjustment. I do get the slower speed I want, but the push to the west is still there and I’m again shoved into farm country. I stay over the crops for a bit then after the “gang” catches up I again go higher and look for the east push. I have very few LZ’s on this track and we are going to cross the river whether I like it or not. That’s fine because there are much better LZ’s over there anyway. Right aver the river is Mark Gehrings farm and he is balloon friendly so once I clear the tree line I spot a cleaned grass field that will work just fine for us today. The gang is a bit behind us as they had to go downtown to cross the river so I land unassisted as they come through the trees onto the field. We get the deflation started, the ties are added and the bag sit is done. We load up and head back north for the picnic.
I get the story started, the toast is done and the certificates are presented. Now we sit down and talk about the great morning we just shared, our thanks for playing with us today.

Peg: “Thank you for your expertise which made our flight enjoyable and memorable. What a great start to a beautiful summer day!”
Rob: “Afraid of heights but I loved it!”
Gene & Kathie: “Great time! Thanks for the flight and the wonderful stories.”

A BIG thank you to today’s Crew (I can’t get in the air or back on the ground without’um)
Cecil, Mike
