Passengers: Nancy Reid-Gookin, Julie & Daniel Hash

Another birthday today, this one is a bit delayed or awfully early? Is your glass ½ full or ½ empty? I think that Nancy’s is ½ full today. I call for the west side site today and what a break as this party lives right down the street, well Nancy does the Hash’s are from a bit further away…ID! I have hopes of flying over Salemtown but I find that Mother Nature wants us to see the river today. We get the balloon un-packed and pumped up and standing tall ready for the passengers. We are off the lot and drift more to the east than I wanted which means no fly-over at Nancy’s house. We cross Wallace and head into the farm & gravel country just to the east of it. After a bit we slip over the tree line along with some ducks and are going to spend some “quality” time cruising down stream on the river. It has been a while since I have had the chance to go downstream with the current so I will try and get our feet wet. We have several minutes on the river but it bends to the west and we don’t so it is up and over the trees into Keizer. Once on the grid again we spot the “gang” waiting to see what way will drift on the last few minutes of the flight. We head out past Statts Lake, now Inland Shores as we will be in the “bottoms” for the landing phase today. The gang have staged where I told them, which was the wrong road so they will have to “hustle” to get to Doug Z’s fields for the landing. There is no wind on the surface so I park it un-assisted (like DA! a couple of thousand acres) as the boys hit the field as we do. We get the “birthday” girl situated and then drop the balloon getting ready for the pack-up. The passengers do the “sit” with great vigor too. We get the gear packed, loaded up and head back to the park for the picnic.
I get the story started, the toast is done and the certificates are presented. Time to sit down and compare notes on the beautiful morning we just spent together, my thanks!

Dr. Daniel: “Fantastic ride, beautiful view and entertaining story telling.”
Julie; “Thank you Jim and crew! A perfect flight, a dream come true for us!”
Nancy: “Thanks to all, wonderful trip. I’ve always wanted to do this.”

A BIG thank you to today’s Crew (I can’t get in the air or back on the ground without’um)
