Passengers: Darin & Mary Lou Randklev, alsoKathy & Rowen Westervelt

We have a little summer cold front off the coast and I think that we can get this flight in before the winds kick up. I call for the launch site in west side of town as the winds are out of the SSW. We get the balloon pumped up and are ready for the passengers to come and join us. We the addition of a little more heat we are off the field. The drift is off to the east and north at a “brisk” speed. We move into the farm country then off over the gravel operation. While up high we are moving at 16 MPH so I drop back down so we can slow down to a reasonable 4/5 MPH. We slip over the tree line into the river for a bit and cruise down stream for a bit. We slip over the trees and into Keizer for the rest of the flight. We skirt past Inland Shores as we head out toward the “bottoms area’ and farm country. I cut a bit to far to the west for a prime LZ so we will continue on until another falls in place. The next workable is a new filbert orchard on the Chapin farm and if I miss that we can use Dustin Z’s yard, as we have before. Once we are over the equipment yard we are down with the boys there to catch us. We get the balloon deflated and ready for the bag as the skies start to get a little dark. We load up and say thanks to Dustin for the use of his beautiful yard and collection of OLD implements. We load up and head back to the park for the picnic.
I get the story started, the toast is done and the certificates are presented.
