Passengers: Don & Delorna Roshone, Bob & Carol Franz

Today we are again out in Brooks at the airport. The wind forecast is for light and variable and this one proves to be true. We the balloon out and prepared for the flight under a beautiful sunrise. After a bit of time we have “Starship” all filled with air and its time to add the heat to get her standing. I call for the passengers to join me in the basket and we are off the tarmac. We drift off to the south for a bit then hook back to the east our normal pattern at this site. The winds are so calm this that we have the crop dusters choppers working the filberts this morning. There is VERY little wind no mater what altitude I’m at. We are over one of the Weathers family hop fields and it looks like we will be for a bit. I go high, then low and still have no luck finding any kind of breeze. Finally at the end of the hour we get a slight breeze (2 MPH) heading out to the northeast but I have NO landing spots in that location for a long distance. I call the gang and have them move under us so we can get a tow back to the launch site. The gang gets us back to the tarmac and we get the deflate started. We get the balloon tagged and the passengers help us with the “sit” . We take the (long) walk to the picnic table for the brunch.
I get the story started, the toast is done and the certificates are presented.

Bob & Carol: “Short & Sweet!!”
Don & Delorna: “Didn’t get very high but had a wonderful time. Beautiful view!”

A BIG thank you to today’s Crew (I can’t get in the air or back on the ground without’um)
Cecil and Tim
