Passengers: Kayla & Pam Vorachek, Sherrie Austin & David Livengood

Today is day one of a five day in a row flight schedule and the weatherman is finally getting the forecast into a flyable mood with calm winds at the Brooks site. We get the balloon out and start the pump up process with “Starship” soon standing tall in the sun ready for the passengers to get on board. We are off the tarmac with a slight drift to the south as predicted and over the hops. We get the usual push toward the Knife River gravel operation and get a chance for a reflection shot off the water as we drift by. The “gang” (all 2 of’um) catches up with us at the edge of the bottoms as we start to get into the urban edge of Keizer. Pam and her daughter were moved from few days back when the weather looked “cruddy” and I can tell that she is happy she did. Sherrie & David join us from the Portland area and this is the 2nd Anniversary of there being together and David has a special gift for her to celebrate the day. We continue following Wheatland Road into town and will be waking all the doggies in the Meadows and Vineyards area as we drift by. Once in town the winds fall off and I have a track for one of our launch sites as a possible landing zone for today. The boys are in the parking lot as I set up the shot for the LZ. We have some tall firs and cedars across the street form City Hall and we have slowed to barely 1 MPH as I get ready for a drop to the boys who have been waiting for this “slow boat” to get there. The boys catch us and tow us around the corner to an open lot at the Heritage Center for the deflate, lay down and pack up. As we load up I take a look at the flags at City Hall and I’m really happy we are down and heading for the picnic and not trying to land in this breeze.
I get the story started, the toastgets well done and the certificates are presented.

David: “Jim and crew, thank you kindly for an amazing flight today. A gorgeous Oregon morning! We celebrate our 2nd Anniversary of my sweetheart and I being together.”
Kayla: “It was fun waking up all the dogs.”
Pam: “I so appreciate the excellent customer service of Jim and the crew, the experience was wonderful!”

A BIG thank you to today’s Crew (I can’t get in the air or back on the ground without’um)
Cecil, Mike
