Passengers: Ken & Pamela Rogers, Wendy Huang

Today it’s a group from up north that will join us on the flight. It is a husband & wife and a friend from Taiwan. I call for the Brooks site again as the winds are holding the same track as the last couple of days. We get the balloon out and start the pump up and the passengers take some photos too. The balloon gets filled and I add the heat and we are standing and ready for the passengers to board. We lift off the tarmac and drift to the south toward the Knife River operation. We spent a bit of time in the farm country and once past Clear Lake we drift into the north edge of Keizer. The “gang” is right with us as we drift by Clear Lake School a really inviting LZ but we are not yet at the hour so we drift on down toward the golf course and Statts Lake. I have stayed fairly high for today and once at the lake I drop down to see what we have for surface winds. I call the “gang” to get set for a photo-op as we have no wind on the lake and it is a chance to do a “dip” in the lake. I set up the shot and get real close but miss the water by inches which is good for Pamela as she is not real keen on getting her feet wet. I have to pull off the lake s we are drifting back to the north and it’s time to find a spot to park. Just past the lake are two large fields that we use from time to time and the “gang” move there as I set the shot up. We drift to the south a bit close to the road so I send down a line and the boys “post” us to the middle of the field for a gentle touchdown. Cecil doesn’t like the small field for the take down so the boys tow us the larger one across the street. As we set up for the deflate we are joined by Brad who lives here at Lakepoint and he has crewed in Albany and has gloves on ready to help. We get the balloon bagged and head out for the picnic.
I get the story started, the toast is done and the certificates are presented.
