Passengers: Jose Soberanis Sr., Carlos Soberanis, Jose Soberanis Jr., Gaspar Llerena

We are again out to the north in Brooks as the winds have shifted back to a normal pattern. We get the balloon out and pumped up on this beautiful morning. When we are standing tall I call for the passengers to climb on board. We are off the tarmac with a drift to the west when low, still with the push to the south. Looking at the steam off the gravel pit we are going to be across the river by landing time. We pass over a friendly farmer house, Bruce Chapin as we head out into farm land. Down low I have way too much push to the west so I go high and find more of the south, which I need. We still are drifting to the west even up higher but that will give the “gang” on the ground more time to get over the river, hopefully by the time we do. We cross into West Salem as I though we would out in the country with the old Limousine Ranch on the track. The ranch will be the LZ for today as it has been balloon friendly for almost 20 years when we landed here and meet the old Gentleman that owned and stocked it with a special breed of cattle, called “Limousine’s”. The owner passed away in 2002 and the property is now leased out for crops. This year it is wheat and on the top grass seed. We have a bit of and up-slope breeze so I will just fly is up to the top of the hill for the landing as the boys are still on the road. We get the balloon down and deflated thenpacked and the “sit” is done. We head back for the long drive and the picnic.
I get the story started, the toast is done and the certificates are presented.
