Passengers: Janvier Slick, Ruth Slick, Judy Helstrom, Greg Zurbrugg

We have a reschedule this morning from Monday when Mother Nature “cried” on us for a bit in the morning. This flight will celebrate the 90th birthday for Ruth and we have a slight push from the south so we are at our west side launch site. The gang gets to work on the balloon as our “birthday girl” and Judy look on. The fan puts in the cold air and soon I add the heat and we are standing up and on our way across the parking lot to the north as predicted. We have a nice sunrise with some scattered clouds as we head over Wallace Road into the farm country of the west side. We play for a bit on this side of the river for a bit then cross over into the west side of Keizer. We cut the edge of the Rapids Park and get a great view of the amphitheater that has been busy this month with concerts about every weekend. We are drifting over Keizer and it looks like the gang will have to move into the “bottoms” as we will be in there for the landing today. I drop low over a plowed field to set up a shot at a grass seed field behind the tree line at Clear Lake. I drop over the tree line and we have picked up some ground speed and the gang is hustling to catch up as I take the shot and we are having a bouncy landing with a final skid into a lean over and I dump the envelope to stop the skid. The gang arrive and we start the pack up and get the balloon back in the bag. We get the gear loaded up and have to put some crew in the basket as we have a really full load inside.
I get the story started, the toast is done and the certificates are presented.

Jan: “It was a great adventure a 90th Birthday present for my mother, Ruth. A once in a lifetime experience!”
Ruth: “Thank you Jan for my present, great trip!”
Judy: ”Thank you for a great adventure, with an exciting landing. I will keep my pine cone with fond memories of passing through the trees.”
Greg: “Loved the flight, but the landing was to die for!”

A BIG thank you to today’s Crew (I can’t get in the air or back on the ground without’um)
