Passengers: Jason Annotti, Kasie Leach

Today is “romance” day with a Private flight booked by Jason for a very special reason. We are still in the fall low pressure with surface winds out of the south so it is again a south launch site. We get the balloon out and pumped up with cold air then it is time to have the passengers come on board. I’ve been checking with ASOS reports off the airport and they have been fogged in for the last 30 minutes but we are clear here with just a trace of clouds in the tree tops on the east side of the ridge. I go ahead and launch and when we get some altitude I can see that all the ground fog is to the east in the “hole” that the airport sits in but it is clear to the north with just a trace scattered to the west. We proceed to the north along the Commercial Street “ridge and I find a hook to the east which takes us over Kasie’s folks place then we get a peek at Jason’s little house too. We again cut across the South High football field then continue almost on the same track as yesterday toward downtown skirting to the west of the Capitol then on into downtown and the bridges. I have a line on Wallace Park but it is to early in the flight to land so we continue into the West Salem farm area and lots of good LZ’s. The gang has crossed the river and it is time for Jason to “do his thing” and he does and she said YES. I have a shot at a grass field past some filberts and that will be the first shot for today. As I se the shot I get hooked off the field and will cross over the tree line into the Fowler family gravel operation and that will now be the LZ for today. Once over the field I set the shot, again and we drift into the field with no help as the gang is on the wrong side of the fence. The gang gets to us and we do the deflate, the pack up and then the “bag sit” . We load up the gear and head back to the park for the picnic.
I get the story started, the toast is done and the certificates are presented.

Jason: “I asked my beautiful girlfriend to marry me today, up in the balloon. Very peaceful and romantic! (ed; she said YES)
Kasie: “This was amazing! It was scary at first but so much fun once you calm down. The world is so much different from up high, Jason proposed! Best day ever! Thanks to Jim and the crew.”

A BIG thank you to today’s Crew (I can’t get in the air or back on the ground without’um)
