Passengers: Westan Heringer, Joel Woodman, David Miller, Norm Miller

We finally have some good flying weather with clear blue skies after loosing three straight days to a “fussy” Mother Nature. We have winds out of the north at about 5 MPH so I call for our Brooks launch site. We have some of the regular “gang” out on vacation so we have some “older” crew and 3 new ones Casey, Beth and Ken. We get the balloon out and ready for the fan then when starship is full it is time to add the heat and make her stand tall. Once we are up it is time to board the passengers get the briefing done then add the heat to get us off the ground. We drift off the tarmac and head out over the hops toward the open water of the gravel pit of Knife River. It is over the tree line and into the filbert (hazelnuts) orchards and over Brooklake Road toward the urban northern boundary of the Keizer urban area. The time flies by when having fun with new friends and the hour is up time to find a LZ (landing zone) for today. I have several schools on the track and the first is Gubser Elementary so I call the gang and will set the shot up for the first try today. I had the “gang” staged at another school so we will probably land unassisted today. We move the balloon to the south side of the field closer to the parking lot and get the air out for the pack up, sit done and head back to Finney Lake for the party.
I get the story started, the toast is done and the certificates are presented.
