Passengers: Dan Guile, Eileen Hall, Larry & Libby Saunders

I call for the Brooks site today as the winds yesterday blew us out and I want more room to “play” if I need it. The wind sock is calm as the sun starts to peek through the trees on the east side of the tarmac. The gang gets to work on the set up and we get the cold air pumped in for a few minutes then it is time to have the passengers get on board. Since it is the 4th of July we will bring our large version of “old glory” (10’x22’) and give it a fly today. We lift off to the south and drift over the hops and once I get a bit of altitude I get the flag deployed for the flight. We cross over the farm country for the first section of the flight, seeing some nurseries, a lot of hops and large grass seed fields. We cross over into Keizer and drift a bit over town then I spot our LZ (landing zone) for today so it is time to retrieve “old glory” so we won’t loose it in the trees around the park. While Dan and I bring in the flag we drift off my first selected LZ Claggett Creek Park so I move the gang on to the next one an elementary school downwind. The boys are set for the shot and once I clear the tree line on the north edge of the field we caught and post into the field for a perfect landing. The boys walk us over to the pavement for the lay down and pack up. The passengers get the sit done and we are on our way back to Finney for the picnic.
I get the story started, the toast is done and the certificates are presented.
