I call for the west launch site for today as we have some “on-shore” flow coming in off the ocean. We use the parking lot at the Park today for the set-up, it is tight as some of the trees are getting bigger. We get the balloon standing and have the passengers get on board. We lift off the lot and get a look at a beautiful sunrise. The drift carries us to the north for the first part of the flight and I have to go looking for some push from the west and after a bit we cross the river and into the Keizer area. We drift from west to east toward the Big “W” (Or Deaf School) and I have the gang move there for the first LZ shot. I drop some altitude and get a shove to the north so I have to pick another just off the Parkway. We have an empty parking lot at one of the State offices so we will use this for the “landing zone” today, with some help from the “gang” to get around the trees and light poles. We are down and ready to pack up the gear, we get the passengers to do the sit and head back to the Park for the picnic. I get the story started, the toast is done and the certificates are presented.
PASSENGER COMMENTS: Cindy: “What an experience! Thank you so much, it was beautiful.” Rebecca: “Never was worried! Great flight and view!” Penny: “Great flight!”
A BIG thank you to today’s Crew (I can’t get in the air or back on the ground without’um)
