September 18, 2012 Passengers: Clive & Deb Stocks, Connie & Rick Hess The winds have shifted a bit and slowed a lot so I pick central site today. We get the balloon out of the bag and start the pump up as the passengers get some photos. I call for the passengers to get on board and we are off the lot. The pi-ball I sent up earlier went pretty much straight up but we get a slow push to the south. We pass over Walker School then cross the river and get a push back to the north and will slip over the bridges and with luck I’ll be able to make us a “boat” today. Once we pass over the walking bridge I get set up for our “splash and float” for today. I get us down the river and just set the skids into the currently and we are now a BOAT on the river with a bag of hot air on top. We are on the river for about 15 minutes as the current carries us toward the condos then I have to get us off as the trees are getting bigger than us. The “gang” gives us a wave as we pass over into central Salem. Time to find a LZ (landing zone) for today and we are in the industrial area off Front Street so a parking lot will be the spot today. I spot a lot we have used before and the gang is there for the catch. We get the balloon deflated, get it in the bag and we head back to the park for the picnic. I get the story started, the toast is done and the certificates are presented.
