Passengers: Donna Wetter, Alvera Blanchard, Elizabeth Harris, Tyler Tuck
We have been down for a few days and the winds today are VERY light today. I call for the west launch site and the “gang” (all two of them) gets to work on the balloon. The pi-ball I launched earlier was all over the place but mostly straight up so we will land somewhere here in West Salem I believe. We get the balloon pumped up and I call for the passengers to get on board. We are off the lot and get a slight drift to the north then hook off to the west and head up the hills of the Eola ridge. We are driftingVERY slowly up Orchard Heights Road and I will get a chance to add some more photos to my “school” collection as we will cross over the two new ones, Straub Middle School and Kalipoia Elementary. The drift carries us over the Straub and we put a little “kink” in the morning activities as the windows fill up with lots of “lookie-loos” and even one teacher brings her class out and gives us a wave. I call the park next to West Salem High as the LZ (landing zone) for today and the gang is on the spot for the catch. We get the balloon deflated and again draw a lot of lookie-loos as we are right next to the main drive. I bet we will be on a bunch of Facebook pages today. We get Starship in the bag and head back to the park for the picnic.
I get the story started, the toast is done and the certificates are presented.
PASSENGER COMMENTS: Donna: “Thank you, what a great way to celebrate (Birthday) Always has been on my ‘bucket list’!” Alvera: “Great ride, thank you so much!” Elizabeth: “I had so much fun! Thank you so much for the great experience!” Tyler: “What a fantastic experience! I had more fun than I thought I would, due to my fear of heights!”
A BIG thank you to today’s Crew (I can’t get in the air or back on the ground without’um)
