Passengers: Carol & Ranee Forrette, C Richard Hodory, Steve & Skyla Ziglinski
We have the north push so I call for Brooks again this morning. We again have a beautiful fall morning as the gang gets the balloon out and pumped up. We get Starship standing and I call for the passengers to board. We have a last minute addition, Granddaughter Skyla who lives close by and was added after I did a “weight” count. We lift off the tarmac and drift off toward the ponds at Knife River. I pass on the “dip” today as we are doing about 5 MPH on the surface. It is over the tree line and toward the farm country as I look for some steerage winds to get me into Keizer and a workable LZ later in the flight. Skyla gets on the phone and call her family as we are going to fly right over there house in Meadows area. Time to find a spot to land and since it’s Sunday I will use the McNary High football field as the LZ. The “gang” move onto the grass and we slip right through the uprights as we land on the 20 yard line. The gang will tow (look at tracks below) us to the parking lot for the take down and the pack up. We load up and head back to do the picnic.
I get the story started, the toast is done and the certificates are presented.
PASSENGER COMMENTS: Skyla: “Thank you!” Richard: “Great ride! Another milestone accomplished from my bucket list.” Ranee: “I am grateful for this once in a lifetime experience. We had a serene and exciting time as we participated in this great tradition!” Carol: “Merci beaucoup!”
A BIG thank you to today’s Crew (I can’t get in the air or back on the ground without’um)
