Passengers: Julie Peterson, Henry Wiens, Jim Mikesh, Debbie Miller

Day 3 of our run has us moved to our west site as the winds have shifted and will bring a change in the weather with it. We get the balloon pumped up and as soon as we are standing I call for the passengers to “come on board”. We leave the crew on the lot and cross over Wallace Road toward the gravel ponds at the Cemex operation. Up high the winds are faster than I want (about 12 MPH) so I will stay low as long as I can so we don’t run out of LZ’s too early. We cross the river around Sunset Park and get into the north end of Keizer. This makes Henry (the birthday boy) very happy as he was raised here and his (mid 90’s) Mother still lives here in a new care facility that we fly right over today. We slip out of town and I’m looking for a LZ out here. We miss the field by the daycare farm that we used last week, but I have a shot at a field off Brooklake so I have the gang move there. I set the shot behind some trees, drop a line and we are caught. WOW thanks to the “A” gang and a good wind shadow. We get packed up, the bag sit is done and we head back to the park for the picnic.
I get the story started, the toast is done and the certificates are presented.

PASSENGER COMMENTS:
Debbie: “Incredible ride! Beautiful sunny morning from West Salem to Keizer. We really enjoyed Jim’s stories, mimosas and pastries in the Park afterwards. This trip was on my bucket list, but I think I’ll keep in on it for a second trip!”
Henry: “This was a wonderful way to celebrate my 64th birthday. Perfect weather and a picture perfect balloon flight over the neighborhood of my childhood, Keizer. Jim and the crew love their work and are very skillful balloonists. Thanks!

A BIG thank you to today’s Crew (I can’t get in the air or back on the ground without’um)
Molly, Tim, Ceciland the “Boss” S.J.
