Passengers: Rich and Irene McConaghy
We are again back in the “good graces” of Mother Nature and will meet the passengers in the Keizer area and look at the final decision for a launch site today. After looking at the “pi-ball” this area will work so we move to a Middle School parking lot for the assembly. The gang gets the balloon out and hooked up, we start the inflation and after a few minutes she is full and ready for some heat. Once we are standing I call for the passengers to board and we are off the lot a couple minutes after 8 AM. The track is a duplicate to the pilot balloon of earlier and we drift across Keizer toward the river and West Salem. We cross over City Hall (where we will picnic later). We move over the river and into West Salem, then over the Cemex Plant on the way to our LZ (landing zone) on a “friendly” private housing area. We are in this area 5/6 times a year and this is number one for 2013. The gang has moved into the field as we cross the fence they catch us. We have picked up a bit of a breeze on the surface so the boys fight the fabric as we get the heat out. We get the balloon bagged, the passengers do the “sit” and we head back to Keizer for the picnic.
I get the story started, the toast is done and the certificates are presented.
