Passengers: Andrew, Melinda & Shirley Culwell
Again we are at the “new” boat ramp in Keizer after being “blown out over the weekend with a change in the weather. We are now back into the spring pattern and have a great sunrise to prove it. We get the balloon out and start the inflation and in a few minutes we are ready for the passengers. We are off the lot with a wave goodbye and head to the river for a “dip”. I set the shot and we get just the corner of the basket in the water then cross into West Salem. It is over Riverbend pond then past the Dairy and cross again into northeast Salem. Again we get a look at the largest “bowling pin” in the valley with the “gang” pulling out of the lot. We are a lot slower today and will be someplace around the Parkway for the LZ (landing zone) today. I have a shot at Home Depot again today with the “gang” waiting, then when I set the shot I get a sharp right turn and we will miss this one. I have the open fields at the Deaf School and the boys mover around to the back of the store to see if I can get there. First shot misses but I go up to about 700 feet and catch the push from the west and will get another chance with a drop line assist to keep us off the trees on the east side of the field. We get a tow to the west side of the field and get the balloon ready to bag. The passengers do the “sit” and we head back to Keizer for the picnic.
I get the story started, the toast is done and the certificates are presented.
PASSENGER COMMENTS: Andrew, Melinda: “Wonderful flight! Thank you so much! Very fun morning & very informative.” Shirley: “Beautiful day, sun with low winds and COLD water on our feet! Thanks do much.”
A BIG thank you to today’s Crew (I can’t get in the air or back on the ground without’um)
