Passengers: Catherine Mills, Lyn Topits, Kathryn Douglas

Today we have TWO Birthday gals, both with the same name but different spelling (can you guess which ones?). I call for the Keizer site at the park but after looking at the pi-ball (test balloon) I decide to move to the school as it’s about 2 miles further to the east and will give us a better spots to park at the end of the hour. We get the balloon out on the lot and filled with cold air as the passengers keep an eye on the operation. When up I call for the passengers to board and after the “briefing” we are off the lot and the “adventure begins”. With a bit more heat we are up to altitude and catch the drift to the south at about 3 MPH. The forecast has proven true with the upper winds being very light as we cross over our picnic spot (City Hall) that we will at later. All the passengers today are now residing out of the area, two from Coos Bay and the other from Dallas to the west of Salem. Once we get to Cherry Ave we swing back to almost due south and my thought of the Fair Grounds as the LZ (landing zone) begin to fade away. I drop down to get a speed change and get a sharp swing to the west and have the gang move to a field behind Home Depot that we use from time to time. The hook to the west is stronger over the lake when I set the shot so I toss a line to the boys to keep us off the Light poles and the adjacent building. The “gang” tows us around the lot and to the dead end street for the lay down and the pack up. We get the balloon in the bag and the passengers do the “sit” for us. We get loaded up and head back to City Hall for the picnic.
I get the story started, the toast is done and the certificates are presented.

PASSENGER COMMENTS:
Lyn: “Thanks, it was great!”
Kathryn: “Thanks for a lovely trip, the weather was nice. May see me again!”

A BIG thank you to today’s Crew (I can’t get in the air or back on the ground without’um)
Mike, Dr.T., Mitch, Ed
