Passengers: Jared Houghton, Christen Pagett, Don Earle

Mother Nature is finally giving us some good flying weather so I call for us to meet at one of the Keizer sites to see what the pi-ball will tell us. It looks like we will “hang” around Keizer today so we move a few blocks to the school parking lot for the set up. After a few minutes we are “cold packed” and time to add some heat. I have Cecil do the hot stand up and will have him come along to get some “familiarization” time toward his ticket. The passengers come on board and we are off the lot about the same time the sun pops up. We are off the lot and head out just about 180 degrees opposite of the pi-ball that I sent up about 30 minutes ago. It looks like we will be in the “farm” country for the LZ (landing zone) today and that’s ironic as one of the passengers today is a “THANK YOU” to a friendly farmer that lets us use his land in Keizer from time to time. We continue on at an easy pace and do move into “no land-land” but I spot a UGLY patch of grass just across I-5 next to the iris fields and that is where I send the “gang” for the catch. The gang do a great job fighting the ground breeze that came up and keeps us off the iris and into the “scrubby” for the lay down and pack up. We get the balloon in the bag and the passengers get the “sit” done and we head out to City Hall for the picnic.
I get the story started, the toast is done and the certificates are presented.
