Passengers: Loren & Debra Wilson, Andrew Gallo, Michael Muller
It is the 4th of July so we have to “fly” our giant flag today and the winds are light out of the north so I pick the Brooks site as the starting point. We get the gear out and hooked up, pump in the cold air and soon we are full. I have Cecil take Andrew & Michael for an “inside” look as they are filming the entire trip for “Sea Chant” their movie company in Portland. I call for the passengers to board and we are off the tarmac as the sun breaks the tree line. We have “Old Glory” on board and will deploy her as soon as we get some altitude. In the meantime we are closing in on the pond at Knife River and I think a “dip” is needed for the camera men on board. After the dip I gain some altitude and we drop the flag to fly below us for a bit. We continue on into the edge of Keizer and I call the “gang” on the radio to move to Gubser School as our LZ (landing zone) for this morning. We get to the field before the gang can so we wait a bit as they get there for the deflate and the pack up. We load up and head back to Brooks for the picnic.
I get the story started, the toast is done and the certificates are presented.
PASSENGER COMMENTS: Michael “Jim and crew, thanks a million for the smooth sailing.” Andrew: “Best day ever!!!” Loren: “It was better than I expected.” Debra: “Great fun, great views, a dip and a memorable landing. Thanks for a wonderful start to my Birthday!”
A BIG thank you to today’s Crew (I can’t get in the air or back on the ground without’um)
