Passengers: Scott, Nancy & Trent Wilms
After a couple of days off we are again into a 3 day “blast” starting at City Hall for the meeting and the pi-ball check. Winds are good so we load up and move to the school parking lot for the set up. We get the balloon filled and Cecil takes the “guys” inside for a closer look. I have Cecil add the heat and we get all on board and we are off the lot heading to the south. We pass over City Hall (where we will picnic later) and are drifting to the west which means a river crossing later which is something I don’t want today so I drop some altitude and get the hook back to the east. We travel down River Road for a bit and the drift to the east will give us a shot at the pond at Cap-Chev. We cross over the Parkway, over the fence and are over the water. We slip between the little “golf Green” island and the fountain for the perfect dip on the water then back up and off over the storage lot of cars and into the deaf school property. The “gang’ is on the move after us as I start looking for an LZ (landing zone). We cross over the “new” Hollywood District” and are approaching the Capitol Mall Park and a great spot to end today’s flight. The Saturday Market is setting up on the Green Lot so I try to work us into the Park area just past but we stay on the east side over the trees and will miss this LZ. We slip past the “Goldman” and I call the gang to move to the soccer field at Willamette University as the next shot. We cross over the roof of the center and the gang is on the field waiting for the “catch”. This building is under an earthquake re-fit so the gang walks us past the bleachers and into the parking lot for the take down and the pack up. The passengers do the “bag sit” and we load up for the return back to City Hall for the picnic.
I get the story started, the toast is done and the certificates are presented.
PASSENGER COMMENTS: The Wilms: “We had a great flight today. Wonderful views of the City and a fun landing!”
A BIG thank you to today’s Crew (I can’t get in the air or back on the ground without’um)
