We got blown out yesterday but the weather is back to normal today so I call for the Brooks site and the pi-ball confirms that the winds are all back in line for a fun flight. The “gang” gets to work on the balloon, filled with cold air and when full we add the heat and call for the passengers to join us in the basket. We lift off the tarmac and head toward the hops next to the runway. The drift takes us over more hops then on to the ponds at Knife River and a dip in the pond just because we can. It is over the south side of the pond and over the gravel operation and on toward Brooklake Road and more farm country. We catch a bit of a shove from the east as we approach Keizer and the hook will put us over the golf course and maybe a shot at a school at the end of Lake. The hook to the west holds down low over the course and the gang moves to the school as that will be the LZ (landing zone) for this morning. I set the shot and the gang is on the field waiting for us to get to them. We get the balloon deflated, ready for the bag, the passengers do the “sit” and we head back to Brooks for the picnic.
I get the story started, the toast is done and the certificates are presented.
PASSENGER COMMENTS: Michael: “Great trip!” Anndrea: “Absolutely awesome, felt at ease and very informative.”
A BIG thank you to today’s Crew (I can’t get in the air or back on the ground without’um)
