Passengers: Kevin & Brandi Demarco, Liz & Oscar Allen
We have had a couple of bad weather days earlier this week but today I call for the Brooks site for the 2 couples we have and a bright sunrise is there to greet us. We get the balloon out and pumped full of cold air then call for the passengers to come on board. We are off the tarmac and on our way to the south over the hops that will soon be harvested. The drift carries us off to the ponds at Knife River and it’s a perfect morning to do a little dip in the water. After leaving the water we hook a bit to the west and over the edge of the gravel operation. I climb a bit and get a hook back to the east over Brooklake Road. We continue the track on to the south toward Keizer and will find our LZ (landing zone) in Keizer later. We approach one of the Elementary Schools and I have the “gang” move there as that will be the landing spot today. When I set the shot we get pushed a couple of houses to the east and I have to drop a line in the street so we can get a tow to the schoolyard for the takedown. We get the balloon all tied up and ready for the bag. We have the passengers do the “sit” then load up and head back to Brooks for the picnic.
I get the story started, the toast is done and the certificates are presented.
PASSENGER COMMENTS: Oscar & Liz: “Thanks for an outstanding flight! Liz and I have been looking forward to this ride forever!” Brandi & Kevin: “Thank you so much for the amazing time. I can now check it off my bucket list! Can’t wait to fly with you again, we appreciate your hospitality and good company.”
A BIG thank you to today’s Crew (I can’t get in the air or back on the ground without’um)
