The upper winds are still “strange” so I call for the middle site as a starting point. We launch a test balloon to see what’s happening above us and we decide to move to the park and use the boat ramp today. The guys get the balloon out and add the air to it and soon we are up and ready for the “gals” to join me. I get the briefing done and we are off the lot and head toward the river at an easy pace. Once we clear the trees on the bank I drop down for a closer look and a “reflection” shot for the gals. We drift up stream for a bit then its time to climb up over the trees and enter Keizer. We slip past the ELKS club then past a really good LZ (landing zone) at Weddle School but it’s a bit early to park so we continue on the east. We cross I-5 just to the north of Hazelgreen and I’ve called the parking lot at Harbor Freight as the LZ for today. Once I cross the tree line by the freeway the wind quits and I have the gang move out to the field for a tow. In a few minutes we are on the lot and ready to deflate. We get Margie to do the sit for us then return to the park for the picnic.
I get the story started, the toast is done and the certificates are presented.
PASSENGER COMMENTS: Margie: “This balloon ride was the most fantastic and fun time in a long time. I couldn’t think of a better80th Birthday event just so wonderful. The crew was great and knew what to do to make our ride super. Thank you a million, ready to do it again!!” Cindy: (daughter) “Awesome…Thanks!!!” Chloris: (daughter in law) “Great trip, the views, the crew, I want to go again!”
A BIG thank you to today’s Crew (I can’t get in the air or back on the ground without’um)
