Passengers: Kelly Young, John Anderson, Helen Conner

We do a bit of “touring” this morning as I call for the west site and we the pi-ball (test balloon) is set up we decide that we need to move to the Keizer area as the winds here will take us into farm country to the south. We drop rigs at City Hall and move to the parking lot at the school. We get the gear out and the balloon pumped full of clod air and Cecil puts the heat to Starship. I call for the passengers to come on board and after the briefing we are off the lot. We have a beautiful sunrise to greet us but are going the wrong way (to the east) so I get some altitude and swing us back to the west. We are slowly drifting toward Inland Shores and I think we can get our feet wet if the winds cooperate and they do. The gang is at the lookout as I drop us over the offices into the lake. It takes a few minutes then we do a complete 360* (circle) turn and head back toward the gang on the turnout. I put us in the water (several times) as we drift closer to the shore and have to eventually climb out to miss the trees on the bank. It’s up over River Road and a turn to the south takes us to Claggett Creek for a close look. We are on this track for a bit then the hour has gone and time to find a spot to park. The gang has staged at the Park but I get a slight push to the east so I move them to the Church for the shot. Once over the trees we have a clean sot for the lot. The boys give Helen a “lift” out of the basket and we get the balloon deflated, tagged and ready for the “sit”. We get loaded up and return (3 blocks) to the park for the picnic.
I get the story started, the toast is done and the certificates are presented.

Kelly: “Perfect, Amazing Birthday…Very Fun!!”
Helen: “Wonderful trip, so fun and great crew!!”
John: “Really fun and a great ride!”

A BIG thank you to today’s Crew (I can’t get in the air or back on the ground without’um)
