Passengers: Steve Ferguson, Lee Coalman
The upper winds have returned to our “summer” mode so I pick the Brooks site today. Our passengers today are from out of town and I’m happy that we have a PERFECT morning to put this one together. The “gang” gets the gear pulled out, then spread out and the air is added. I get “Starship” standing tall and call for the boys to
join me in the basket. I get the “briefing” done and we are off the tarmac heading out to the south and the lake. We cross over the edge of the
lake
and I set the shot for a “splash & Desch” and I get a bit to hot and miss the first shot but hit the second dead on and the boys on the bank get some nice photo’s too. We drift off the water and over the biggest “sand box” in Brooks on toward Keizer. The gang has staged at Wheatland and radios up for a wave back as the have the camera at the ready. We continue the slow drift to the south and skirt by Forest Ridge School to the east (my first LZ selection). Down wind is my 2nd pick for landing today again a school and as I drop for the shot we get a hook to the east and the gang has to move to catch the drop line right on the edge of the street
entrance
to the school. We get a tow to the softball field for the deflation and pack-up. We get the “bag sit” done and head back for the picnic.
I get the story started, the toast is done and the certificates are presented.
PASSENGER COMMENTS: Steve: “Balloon pilot, Hot Air and thanks…God Bless!” Lee: “What a wonderful 72nd birthday present. A balloon ride is something I’ve wanted to do since I was a little kid.”
A BIG thank you to today’s Crew (I can’t get in the air or back on the ground without’um)
