Passengers: Marcella & Chris Pfeifer, Justin Hunt, Meghan Peterson.
We start out at one of the Keizer sites as the forecast is for light to calm winds but when the pi-ball is released our look at the true wind on site prompt me to move to the Brooks area. It’s just another beautiful day when the sun peeks over the trees as we get the balloon out and start the pump up. Cecil adds the heat for us and we are standing tall ready for the passengers to join us in the basket. We are off the tarmac and drift to the north briefly before catching the southwesterly that the pi-ball showed us earlier. Today we again have recent graduates that have a “gift” flight from family to celebrate their hard work. Also the Pfeifer’s which had to reschedule from over a year ago because Marcella took some time to get a NEW knee. We cut across the hops to the west heading for the river (which I don’t want to cross) so I go higher looking for more south to friendlier LZ’s at the end of the hour. I do get some push to the south but still will have to contend with the river. I spot a “friendly” back yard that we used 2 years ago but miss it by a football field. The river is getting closer and the gang move toward us and the LZ will be a dirt road again today. We slip over the Hazelnut field and the catch is made by the boys. The lay down is tight with trees on the left and new corn on the right. We get the dusty “Starship” back in the bag and the sit is done. We load up and head back for the picnic.
I get the story started, the toast is done and the certificates are presented.
PASSENGER COMMENTS: Marcella: “What a quiet, beautiful flight that I really enjoyed.” Justin & Meghan: ‘Thank you so much for the experience. We enjoyed every minute and had a lot of fun. You all are very friendly and we hope to do this again in the near future!” Chris: “I had a great time! Thanks.”
A BIG thank you to today’s Crew (I can’t get in the air or back on the ground without’um)
Tim, Cecil
