I call for the school site today out north and the gang gets the balloon out and starts the cold pack for us. The balloon is full and ready for some heat and it’s time to load up the passengers. We drift off the launch site heading gently off to the south. We are tracking along River Road for the first part of the flight then off the farmland and into Keizer proper. The hour is closing in on us and my first LZ spot is Claggett/Weddle School’s but we get hooked to the west and miss that one. We have the Parkway coming up and the next shot is the parking lots at the DHS service center. The gang is there and so are about half the employees too. We get the balloon off to the side, deflated and in the bag in record time. It’s back to the school for the picnic.
I get the story started, the toast is done and the certificates are presented.
