We got blown out yesterday with high winds up top from a heat low that moved in from the south. We are back at Brooks site and the winds are workable so we start getting the gear out and pumped up. Cecil puts the heat in for us, we get the passengers on board and are off the field as the sun pops up over the building. At lower altitude we are drifting to the east slightly so I go a bit higher looking for some west push. I do find it and Lee noticed that we are flying over a friends house below so I get a shot. A bit further south we pass over a corn maze that will probably be in use around Halloween time. We continue on now with a due south track and cross I-5 into northeast Salem. I spot our LZ for today an empty lot just past Silverton Road & 30th street. We miss the field a bit so I send down the drop line and the boys “reel” us in like a giant fish. We are all again safe and sound on Mother Earth, get the balloon deflated and the passengers do the “sit”. We get the gear loaded up and head back to the school for the picnic.
I get the story started, the toast is done and the certificates are presented.
