Today we are back into our typical fall pattern so the north site will work for us today. We have a birthday gal and anniversary couple and a couple of guys (Del & Chris) that have been bumped 4 times this season (almost a record). The boys get the balloon out and pumped up and I call for the passengers to come on board. We drift off the field, over the trees to the east at an easy pace. Down low we are doing about 4/5 MPH but above 600 feet we drop to 1/2 MPH so we will hang out up here for a bit as the passengers get use to the “experience”. We cross I-5 and head toward the NORPAC cannery which is doing corn today. I drop lower to get some “steerage” wind and we are over the settling pond and get a reflection shot as we drift over the cottonwoods and into Brooks. The gang is on the church property as we drift that way and the LZ will be somewhere on their property. I drop down low for the shot and get a sharp shove to the west but the boys are there for the bag drop and we land on the street. It’s a tight spot but workable and we have been here before. We get the balloon deflated and in the bag and the passengers do the “sit”. We load up and head back to the school for the picnic. I get the story started, the toast is done and the certificates are presented.
