Passengers: Collin, Douglas, Caitlan, Cameron Wilson

I call for the west launch site for today as the forecast is for light winds. The gang gets the balloon out and we add the cold air and I call for the passengers to board. We are off the lot, cross over Wallace toward the ball fields. We have very light winds so we hang a bit over the ball fields before drifting over the tree line and onto the river. We get a sharp hook to the north so I decide we need to get the basket wet and do a “dip” or two as we head downriver. While on the water we spot Bambi on the bank having breakfast. We start to drift off the river so I add some heat to clear the trees as we head into NE Salem. We still have light winds as we head to the east with a slight drift to the south. I spot the first LZ (landing zone) at the state achieves building and the gang moves to it. As I set the shot we get shoved off to the east and miss this one. So the next spot is Parish/North High complex and we miss this one. The next one in line is Barrick Field which is North Highs baseball complex and we have been there several times but not today. I take 2 shots at it and get shoved off both times. We hook toward Lee Mission Cemetery…nope then toward Memorial Hospital…nope so we cross Center Street and I radio down we will use the street below me. I have a tree to hold us and drop the line and the gang reels us in like a giant fish. We get the balloon deflated, all tubed up and in the bag. We say “bye” to the locals that welcomed us today and head back over the bridge for the picnic.
I get the story started, the toast is done and the certificates are presented.
