Passengers: Karen Lavery & Travis Weis
The winds have shifted so I call for our south launch site. We unload the gear and get the envelope out of the bag and start the cold pack. Cecil adds the heat as the passengers watch then I call for them to join us in the basket. We are off the parking lot and head to the north at an easy pace. The passengers settle in as we swing a bit to the east and are over Pringle Road. We float along to the north and cross over Gilmore field and Travis is ready to swing into “action”. He hits his knees and she is surprised as planed. She said yes and he slips on the ring. We pass over Tokyo U. then on into Keizer for the first landing spot, Weddle School, which we miss by a few hundred feet. It’s down the Parkway then I call for the ball fields just down wind. We cross over into the fields and that gang is there for the catch. We get the balloon tagged and then bagged and it’s back south for the picnic.
I get the story started, the toast is done and the certificates are presented.
PASSENGER COMMENTS: Karen & Travis: ”Engagement aside, the ride was truly remarkable. First flight for each of us, what a wonderful skill and talent to share for others to experience, from start to finish the whole process was amazing. I liked being included for prep to watch the envelope take flight and the post cruising picnic hit the spot. Thank you for being a key part in such a momentous moment for the two of us!!!
A BIG thank you to today’s Crew (I can’t get in the air or back on the ground without’um)
